Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The best race finish ever. Has there ever been a more real-life tortous and the hair example than that?

And yet Euro still made the "top 1000". Or so we were told. Oddly he fled the country after that.

Eric Zabel and Chris Boardman were both guilty of celebrating victory too soon, only to get pipped.

Anyone remember the female american snowboarder at the 4-cross a couple of years back, last winter olympics at turin who did a tailgrab on the last jump to celebrate, fudged the landing by crashing off the course and lost the race....

I saw a video some years back of a professional auto race - not sure if it was NASCAR (I'm not a redneck so I don't watch it). Anyway, the winner was taking his victory lap waving the checkered flag out the window and promptly ran into the wall.

Kind of reminds me of the time Mark Martin pulled on put road under caution because he got the white flag confused with the checkered.

search it on you tube you'll find it.

In F1 a few years back, the leader pulls around the corner and stops to celebrates with his pitcrew outside of pit lane only to realize that the finish line wasn't for about 100 more feet. He lost.

Ha found both
