Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Have you guys had luck with pawn shops?

Seems like every pawn shop I've been to has overpriced/crappy bikes. Everytime I go I hope to find a bargain but it's the same old stuff...Huffy, Magna, ancient road bikes. I'm not expecting a BMC or Cervelo but it would be neat to be able to find something like a 2003+ Giant OCR or Trek 1000 at least.

you won't find Giant's, Treks, etc...at a pawn shop...if you do it would be a very rare find....folks that buy those bikes usually don't need to pawn them for cash...and most of those bikes get traded in for higher end models at a LBS....now if your looking for a nice handgun or a DVD player...then a pawn shop is a great place to find a deal.
