RAAM sighting
I already posted in the LD forum, but I wanted to highlight this event here, too.
I was driving from Indianapolis to DC yesterday (from the US Grand Prix), and we decided to drive straight through. Somewhere between Cumberland and Hancock, MD, I noticed a van going very slowly on the National Road (route 144), which parallels US Route 68. Since it was about 10PM or so, I wondered why they were going so slow, and why their headlights looked so bright....then I noticed a bike rider in front of the van....I told my fellow car passenger - that must be some sort of endurance race, or someone on a cross-country trek....and mused that it might be part of RAAM (Race Across America), but since I didn't know when the ride was, I didn't know for sure. After I got home (at 12:30 AM), I found out that I probably saw one of the lead teams, or even the solo leader. I thought that was pretty cool.....and I also had to stop complaining about the 9.5 hour drive. That was NOTHING compared to what these guys are doing. http://www.raceacrossamerica.org http://members.cox.net/hollingsworth/RAAM.jpg Note - this isn't my pic - it's one from earlier in the day near Clarksburg, WV of the solo leader, Jure Robic. |
THat's awesome! Oh, and welcome home!

the "National Road" is route 40, not 144
i would know, i live right on it. |
the company I work for is one of the sponsors of Team Type 1, (who won the Corporate Challenge) the fastest team in RAAM 2007...they are all Type 1 diabetics that use insulin pumps and the insulin they all use in their pumps is one of the insulins that I sell...it was cool to watch their progress through their blog.
