Tubes...

Ok guys,

I'm wanting to invest in some spare tubes. What is your favorite tubes and where do you get them, your LBS or mail order? Why are they your favorite tube?

Thanks,

Ray

Whatever they give me when I ask for a 700x23 tube.

I've tried some latex tubes twice, both times failing miserably.

I buy at the LBS. I hope their tubes are relatively fresh. Not sure about mail order. If there is a choice I prefer Kenda to Bontrager. I buy 32s and 35 for my commuter bike. I find all the skinny tubes I need along the roads and patch them. Latex tubes do not even make good slingshots or bunjee cords.

The resale's not very good, so tubes would be a terrible investment.

I usually get the Michelin Aircomp Ultralights from my local Performance.

I get them at my LBS. They carry and I have used both Bontrager and Specialized with no problems.

For my training wheels I use quality tubes, they are generally kenda's in a qbp box. For my race wheels I use Schwalbe extralite tubes (something like that) with 80mm valve stems.

i used to use Michelin Aircomp Ultralights, but i've since switched to Bontrager Super Lites, and the only reason for the switch was because my LBS always has the Bontrager's in stock and is sometimes out of stock on the Michelin's. the Michelin's are great tubes though...

I avoid Cyclepro brand. Every one I have tried (about 5 by now) had a slow leak. Aside from that, any reputable brand is fine with me. Specialized, Continental, Performance, etc.

I was going to order tubes online, but with a discount I get for being a member of a local cycling club it's a wash. I buy Bontrager Race Lites from the LBS in 3's.
