Torelli Bormio SL wheelset (1510grams/$269.95)

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Torelli Bormio SL wheelset (1510grams/$269.95)

Beyondbikes.com are selling Torelli Bormio SL wheelsets which weigh in at 1510g for $269.95. Seems like a pretty decent deal to me. Anyone had any experience with these wheels?

What's the profile on that rim?

I like the look, but can't tell if it's the standard double wall, or "V" type profile.

My LBS was pushing these on me as an option for a good, well-priced, stiff wheel. They said it would be almost as stiff as the Ksyrium SLs, but w/o the stiff price. I think they were focused, however, on the model with the thick bladed spoke. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any reviews on roadbikereview.com and I sure wish they were made in silver. Anyhoo...seems like a great price, but it also has me wondering if they are being discontinued almost as quickly as they were introduced.

At that price, I wonder if the hubs are of suspect quality. I'd be interested to hear more on these wheels.

The bladed spoke version is available for the same price. (50g penalty per set)

Wheels are built with Pillar spokes, the finest and most expensive spokes made in Asia.

I just picked up a pair of Performance Titans with those fabulous Pillar spokes...

Yeah, I had Neuvation wheels with the fabulous Pillar spokes. They kept breaking.
