Epididymitis
I have epididymitis, an infection,or inflamation of the epididymis the duct on the back of the testicle. It started about a month ago, as a slight pain in the right side testicle, mostly noticed after riding. It went away within a week or so, and reappeared 2 days ago. Yesterday it was back with a vengence and hurt pretty badly, so I went in, and saw my doctor. She ( yes a she) sent me for an ultrasound this morning that ruled out anything else. She started me on the antibiotic cyproflaxacin.
Has anybody else had this? Is it cycling related? Before this, I always was very comfortable on my bike, and had an excellent fit. I am in good condition, 34, 5'10" 172lbs. |
hmm...slept with any un-clean women?
We should be surprised your doctor is a female? I hear they can vote now. |
No ,is it THAT sort of thing? No never, been faithfully married for 11 years.

I hope everything is okay, I don't think this is very common as I havent heard people complain about it too much on the forums(but that might mean they arent secure enough to talk about it). |
I have no problem with a woman doctor, just a woman, other than my wife, well, checking my parts out.

oh nevermind |
that's medicine: for every 21 year old female breast exam, there are 22 prostate exams.

I had the same thing, for no reason, before I got back into cycling. Painful, and the antibiotics seemed to clear it up. It took a long time for the pain to go away though.

http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic166.htm Actually that link says over 35 years of age it is less likely to be an STD. |
as much cycling related as a tumor on your testicle.
|
It's not a tumor!

You had an ultrasound of your junk? Did you get the DVD and post it on YouTube?
Not that I'd be interested. Best wishes for a full recovery and many years of pain free cycling. |

I had it once. It was right about the time that Lance had cancer. A lot of people were talking about testicular canser and is scared the crap out of me.
I also had a woman Dr. and it is no fun getting your junk checked out in a clinical environment. You are so worried about not getting aroused, that it does the turtle on you, which is even worse. I had done some heavy lifting a few days before, and the doctor told me that that can cause irritation and bring on an infection. It had nothing to do with those three $20 hookers and the sheep.:D |

I guy on my team got it back in March, and it took him about two weeks to get over it. He was in A LOT of pain, and we had to take him to the ER after a race.
