Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

1. That area is relatively flat

2. No fricken way Skowhegan counts as a city. Augusta, which barely rates large town, would be one. Who the f**k would be touristy there?! Maybe LA is the second? Lots of pass through, but no stoppers.

<> yup <>

2. No fricken way Skowhegan counts as a city.

<> true <>

<> While it it is true Augusta has fallen on hard times, I would be touristy there
and I am a native. There are a couple museums arouns the state capital. In the next town downriver there are good restaurmants, touristy shops and one of the best bed and breakfasts in Maine, if not New England. There is a TON of bike riding in the area around Augusta, and much of it is quite hilly. <>

Maybe LA is the second? Lots of pass through, but no stoppers.

<> Nobody goes to LA except the people that live there. There's a terrific college there, and it's not that bad and it is recovering. But if it sounds like I'm damning it with faint praise, you would be right to think so. <>

Lob-Stuh' Chow'-duh

Actually, there are several Maine accents, and most of them are dying.
You used to find guys who could take 30 seconds to say Good Morning.
I could have a short conversation and feel like an hour had passed.

If you want a treat, pick up a Marshall Dodge record.

I need to find The Sinking of the Maybelle 2, it's been too long.
