Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tour de Donut

Just a reminder for all midwesterners: The Tour de Donut is coming up July 14 in Staunton, IL, which is about 40 miles northeast of St. Louis. This "race," sponsored by the Boeing Employees Bicycle Club, covers a 30 some odd mile route and inlcudes two donut stops. For each donut you eat, 5 minutes comes off your race time. Staunton has a town festival that has grown up along with the Tour de Donut, and the day is great fun. Usually there are around 600 riders in the race. if you can, come enjoy the racing and the donuts.
