Does anybody give a crap who wins the Tour De Farce this year?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Congratulations on yet another well thought out and insightful thread.

How many days did it take you to write it?

My enjoyment of the tour eclipses the inevitability of disappointing doping scandals, so I will watch knowing the top guys are doped to the gills.

We are already seeing the Giro fallout - Italian newspaper reporting possible masking agents contributing to low abnormal hormone levels in DiLuca and other top finishers. These levels are normally seen in pre-pubescent boys... https://www.cyclingnews.com/news.php?...un07/jun25news

I agree with the "shut up" part, but I thought we want him to stop "putting up."

I'm not really looking forward to it this year. However, I could care less who is doping and who isn't. In my opinion they all are. What I'm sick of is that all they talk about is doping any more. Yeah, yeah, yeah, they dope. Not exactly breaking news. Now, lets see which one of them is fastest on a bike.

Must be a uniquely british/australian saying

Means either put up with it (in which case you don't need to say anything) or else shut up about it (self-explanatory).

Either way, this thread is pointless.

And at the end of the day, doping or not, I don't care who wins, I'm more interested in seeing a great competition and learning a few things from watching the pros.

EDIT: looking good with those 404s on the cdale

Well see? Now I actually learned something from this thread.

In the US, "put up or shut up" in this case would imply that either the OP should race in the TdF himself or withhold his opinion on the matter.

At least now we can each say we learned something from this thread.

I've always like the Giro over the TDF, but I'm still looking forward to the Tour - it's one of our Sports most historic events...if you have such a negative attitude about it (and, apparently, professional cycling in general), don't follow it and don't talk about it (Certainly don't start a thread about it).

Wow. It's either doping in cycling or steroids in baseball. I'm gonna have to start watching table tennis.

I could skip the Bob "Tour DAY France" Roll reporting... his commentary makes me cringe...

Dave Z. ftw!

I can dream, can't I?

It's nice to be a newer convert to this whole bike racing thing. We noobs aren't as jaded and cynical as you crusty old farts.

Cheers

I generally don't care who wins any sporting event I may watch. I just like to watch the action objectively.
