Panaracer tires
(Don't tell the MTB guys I'm here) ;)
I may be going on my first group ride Wednesday evening and I'd like to get some road tires. The LBS here in town has some Panaracer road tires for 16.95. I'm not sure what model they are though. Just wondered if anyone has run Panaracers. Thanks |
Better choices out there.Get what you pay for.

If you're going to continue this "habit" of group rides ;) you may want to look for a tire that offers good protection against punctures. I have Continental Grand Prix 3000 on my Litespeed. Nearly 2000 miles without a flat. But they're a little pricey at $48 each. I have Vittoria Rubino Intrepid PRB Kevlar 3D Compound tires on my commuter. No flats yet. I picked them up for about $25 each. Ask the folks at the LBS about tires and which ones they recommend. Have fun on the group ride. :) |
i had some panaracer's on my road bike for like 2 years. they were the model with a smooth center strip and grooved outers. Nice tire very good for training. Sounds like a good price.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure how much road riding I'll be doing so I hate to spend a lot on tires. I just bought them for 16 bucks each so I can't get hurt too bad. Sounds like the ones you had on Tone. At least the tread pattern does. Glad to hear they're not junk anyway. :)

I think I paid around $20-25 for each... they roll nice for me... and I don;t have to worry much about flats Jeff |
They'll be fine (roadie convert) On a side note i just picked up a set of these somewhere for $12 a piece and their just about the same. they have a nice ride and seem to grip ok in very wet conditions as the 4 of my last 6 rides have been in the rain. (700x23 27tpi)

Panaracer makes awesome tires but like all companies they also have made bad tires.
I like all their new tires. However hated the older Cat series from last year and before. The sidewalls just didn't hold up. |
