Headset And Fork Compatibility
Basically i found a gorgeous old school steel lugged fork, standard threading 1" and i want to now get a new headset but i'm not sure how to figure out for sure if they will work together. they are same threading and both 1" but i'm new to this and i dont know how headset stack height and steerer length come into play. I'm a little overwhelmed, i dont want to end up with a bunch of parts that wont work with my frame. All advice is appreciated. cheers.

i really have no good advice here, but maybe you should post this in the vintage forum. or the fixed gear forum as a lot of those guys run a threaded set-up

Old threaded 1" can either be JIS or ISO. You need to measure your crown race on the new fork. 26.4mm = ISO, 27.0mm = JIS. Now measure the ID of your head tube. If it's ~30.1mm = ISO, ~29.9 then JIS. Hopefully the fork matches the frame's headtube.
Next - steerer length and headset stack height. You need a steerer length = headtube length + headset stack height (and any thickness for centerpull/canti stops, etc). You know your headtube length, you know the fork steerer length, hopefully the stack height you need is somewhere between 31-42mm.
