time pedal question
 

I'm thinking about upgrading from my cheap Look to a Time RXE. However, I'm using black (0°) cleats for my Looks and it seems that you don't get that with Time and I'm not sure I could get used to any rotation during pedalling.

I run RXE's on my bike. There is some float (not sure how many *, I'm sure it says on the Time website), but its not awkward. There is a centering tension that brings your feet back to center, and prevents your feet from excessively rotating around the pedal.

I like the pedals. They are cheap, have a very definite clip in and release, and are extremely easy and natural to clip in and out of. I don't even think about it anymore.

I would recommend them.

Time makes a good pedal. I would ride them now except for the fact that the float is spring centered as mentioned. The fact that you like the 0 deg cleat from Look may turn the spring centered float which is used on the Time pedal into a nice feature for you.

Try them. e-bay them if you don't like them. Pedals are like handlebars and saddles. Everywhere the body interfaces with the bike directly you will get as many different opinions about what will work as there are riders.

I run the Time RXS carbons and I like them. I've never run 0deg float pedals so I don't know how that would feel, but the Time pedal does not allow my foot to move all over the place. I feel as if I have to pyhsically rotate my foot to invoke the float. The feature I really like is that the pedal has a bit of lateral float as well as rotational float. Once again I don't notice the movement in my feet. I was riding Look Keo pedal, with the red cleats, before theses and I found those much more loose feeling then these.

I really like the Time pedals!
