Kool Stop Pads
Does anyone know which kool stop pads will work on my bike? I have Shimano Ultegra 6600's. I see there's a new set called tectonics, will these work? I also see recommendations on the forum for the SALMON pads, but according to Kool Stop, they are for wet weather and the blacks are for dry.. I only ride on dry, so I'm assuming I should stay with the blacks, is this correct?

They make pads for most combinations of brakes and rims, I use Koolstop Dura black in my Ultegra brakes (can't remember the number) for use on Bontrager Race lite alloy rims.

I have a pair of Salmon's due in Tues or Thurs.

I should add that I have Bontrager race lite alloy rims.

The salmon pads are softer and wear out faster. They are more grippy, perhaps too grippy for some people (hard to control). I use the black pads and am perfectly happy with them.

Just get the Koolstop dual compounds and get the best of all worlds.

Shape: Dura Type pads
Compound: Black will be just fine In fact, the black compound will probably be fine if you get caught in a sudden downpour even. It's not like your braking power magically disappears when it's wet. You just gotta brake earlier. |
