Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Question about technique.

I am new to cycling and have ridden roughly 800 miles. I am curious how high my seat should be. I'm riding a 58 with a 175 crank. I am 6' 2". The way the seat is setup currently I can nearly extend my knees so they lock... if I really sit up I can lock them. Any formulas for figuring seat height? Or how about tricks to setting seat height?

Thanks!

You can read this: https://www.coloradocyclist.com/bikefit/

Or your local shop should be able to set you up with a fitting session as well. There's a variety of formulas, rules-of-thumb, etc., out there to help answer your question. Subscribe to the fitting rules of your choice, or just experiment on your own. Note that the various formulas just provide "approximately right" starting points, at which point you're down to experimenting anyway.
