Time for Century?
I have just completed my 1st Century (163 km - 24 kph) 6:45 riding time, 7:32 overall time, with a partner for the first 40 km then solo. I am 47, 6'1", 195 lbs and wondering how that is for a pace.
Any one else willing to post their times for a century ride?

Well, congrats on completing your first century! That's a very respectable time, especially with the amount you rode solo. My first century 11 years ago was completed in 5:55 ride time, so I use 6 hours as a bench mark. I've probably done 40 since, with the majority under 6 hours. I completed the first one of this year 3 weeks ago in a time of 5:35, riding with a group of 4, so time was faster than usual. My best was 4:59 as part of RAIN (162 miles), but that was unusual, as there were major pace lines going for the first 75 miles. And I'm 50, 6'2" and 235 lbs.

First ... congratulations.
Second ... I've ridden 67 centuries (and a bunch more longer rides) and my times range from 6 hours to 15 hours and 20 minutes (total time, of course). These times depended mainly upon environmental conditions (i.e. weather, terrain, etc.)

Congrats. Just got back from my first double metric, about 225km total (I always seem to get lost). 7h48m riding time, somewhere around 10h from when I left the house (I didn't really keep track). All solo and average at 29.0 according to my computer. I'm a little guy, 125lbs and I'm in my mid 20's.

i did one last weekend in just over 6 hours ride time. 2500m climbing, 161.5km, 30-35 degrees (except on top of the mountains where it was 21 and thunderstorms).
no photos, but there's now a map here:

i have done 6 or 8 since i started riding last year. fastest ride time was 5:13 and slowest around 6:20 ride time. depends on the weather, the group, and my legs. sometimes not all things line up in our favor. later.

Congrats on completing your first..
My wife and I did our first this spring and completed it in 6 hours total time, 5hrs-20min ride time. We were in a group of 10 or so for about 15km and then rode together for the next 30km. At that point we picked up a third and increased the pace until the 15km to go mark where I got dropped. My wife saw me lagging and came back to get me, she paced me in the rest of the way...She is a damn good rider! I learnt something that day...Don't spend all day at the front, take your breaks and leave something for the end.

Do you people turn off your bike computers during rest stops, lunch, etc?

102miles Bay Bridge to O.C. Maryland a few years ago in 4:35...included fast pacelines first 40-50 miles.....rode with 2 other guys the rest of the way....that is a flat century with about 5' of climbing.... ;^)
Normally I do centuries in the 5:30 to 6:30 depending on the severity of the climbs....I'm 6'7" / 275....and get drafted on a LOT.....

Fastest was 6:30 total time. Last was 6:45. I don't know riding time or avg mph as my computer doesn't go there.

I have mapped out 1st Century my route including elevations on www.mapmyride.com.
Mycircuit was To Gordon Head and Waterfront then a quick Prospect Loop (P) followed by a spin out to Lands End and returning from Lands End to Gorge . This site has interesting software that once perfected could be pretty useful.
I think some of the distances on the map are short as my cycle computer registered differently and my partner and I noticed this on other rides as well.

My first was just at 6 hours ride time and slightly under 8 hours total...we had some wheel trouble with one of the guys I was riding with that probably held us up for about 30 minutes or so. He had three flats and found out he had a rough spot on his rim that kept flatting his rear tire.

We finished a sub 5 hour century this last Saturday. Granted it was flat, in one direction, had a tailwind, and was on the way to completing 160 miles.....but it counts.

Fastest recent century for which I have data was was 4:32:22. (total elapsed time)
Was aiming for sub 4 hours that day. But after a mechanical problem was OTB from the A group, and then spent an hour or so solo, and then doing most of the pulling in the slower group.
