Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

which headset?

I'm trying to put my bike back together. I had hip surgery a few months ago. After the surgery I took apart the bike to change a few parts/clean it, but now I'm missing a piece of the headset. I spent all day at the LBS looking and came up empty handed. The guys at the shop were no help either. I've got a Felt F-55, and I'm going to need a new headset. I looked around online, but can't find one that looks like the one on the bike. Does anyone know off the top of their head which one I need to order?

There are a few standards when it comes to cycling:

Stem & seatpost: Thomson
Headset: Chris King

Everything else is up for debate.

You didn't mention what year your Felt F55 is, but for the past few current model years, they used either FSA or Aheadset 1-1/8" integrated headsets.

Pretty sure you're gonna need a Cane Creek standard (36/45 degree) 1 1/8" integrated headset.

it is a 2006 I believe. Matte black and yellow. It has an FSA Aheadset and it is 1-1/8" intergrated. Problem is it looks like the cups are part of the headtube and the bearings and races are all I need. Everything I see online has cups with it. I don't know what the hell i'm looking at.

can someone post a link if they have an idea?

Are you sure the cups are part of the head tube? Without seeing them (obviously), I would guess that they're just tight.

are the cups normally pressed into the head tube? Do you need special tools to remove and install them?
