'Star Wars' helmet to help cyclists (Stormtrooper)
http://editorial.jpress.co.uk/web/Up...edi_helmet.jpg
http://www.lep.co.uk/weird-world?articleid=3014531 It may look like something out of Return Of The Jedi, but this helmet could help cyclists breathe more easily, according to its designer. The helmet was created to filter out particles which irritate hay fever and asthma sufferers. It covers the cyclist's nose and mouth with a shield behind which the filtered air circulates. Used air is expelled via a plastic tube when the cyclist exhales. The helmet, called Breathe Air, was created by 22-year-old Brunel University industrial design and technology student Luke Pannell. Stephen Green, lecturer at Brunel University's school of engineering and design, said: "Combining a helmet with effective filtering will provide considerably more reassurance to people whilst cycling." Mr Pannell is seeking a manufacturer to take on the Breathe Air helmet, which is expected to retail for around £100. |
Vision looks like it might be an issue.....

Looks more like the Predator's thing than something out of Star Wars.
|
Just don't forget to take it off before you walk into 7-11... ;)

I give it a D-. |
Zero peripheral vision.
|
I'd say ditch the helmet part and try to improve the breathing aparatus by making it smaller and lighter.
|
Aren't you a little short for a storm trooper?
|
If it comes with built in air conditioning I'm sold...
;) |
Wow! I could not imagine wearing that while riding. I guess it will allow asthmatics suffers the chance to get out of the house and ride. Looks like another gimmick to me!
|
Naturally the inventors name would be Luke! :)

How do you drink or eat? Besides this is not a new idea, they have sold filtering masks for a long time now.
|
Great peripheral vision. You'll be safe from hay fever and dead by car.

You could pull Jedi mind tricks at stops...
"You don't need to see my cranks." -"We don't need to see his cranks." "My wheels are not carbon." -"His wheels are not carbon." "Go take a pull" -"Lets take a pull." |
Luke, I am you FATHER!!!

Illegal in my state.

In the military we had to do six hours of P.T. in full M.O.P.P. 4. That's full chemical gear with mask on. I remember peeling the wretched thing off and pouring the water out. No effin way will I wear that thing. To say nothing of the 'please kick my ass/shoot me' sign attached to it.

Looks more like a personel face bong for a roadie hempster.
