Don't hate me, xero xr1 question (and xero xr1 tarmac?)
Hello,
Well, i've gotten a k2 mod 4 about 2 years ago. Came in stock with mavic cosmos. Nice wheels, pretty heavy, and the rear is kind of upsetting me these days... far from silky.
Anyhow, im about 150lbs 5'7 .. in love with flats, despise hills. Thought a pair of these would help me against those hills.
First is a pretty silly question, and its just something id like to hear your opinions on and not flames, would it be a significant improvement over a 2 year old set of cosmos wheels?
Second question is a bit more significant. Any particular reason to go for Xero XR1 tarmac ones ($250) over the normal xeros for $200? (https://shop.greatdealsonbikes.com/me...gory_Code=XERO)
And the last question, should i go to an lbs and have them checked over and tensioned before i put them on my bike?
Thanks for the help!

I have the regular ones. They are plenty stiff for me, as I'm not a 200# power sprinter. They pinged a few times for the first 100mi, but quiet and smooth since. I checked the true, and they are fine. I have close to 2000mi on them now, no problems. I like them alot. they are my queitest wheel. The hub doesn't ratchet as loud as my Rolf's but my Rolfs are a much better wheel. Personally, I like them alot, and will probably get another set. I weigh 175#. For $200, they are the best and lightest (1520g) bang for the buck you can find.

I've been thinking about these wheels as well. Why the hell not? I would also like to know what the diff is between the XR-1 and Tarmac.

I have been checking out those wheels too, from what I can tell the tarmac is 20 spokes in front opposed to 18 and have different hubs, but the rim and the spokes themselves are the same according to the xero website.

hm so i guess at 160 i should be okay with them... i really don't want them to flex.. and actually the tarmacs have 4 more spokes in the back.. maybe this will help with the flexing issue as well as make it a bit more sturdy? seems like a good deal... as long as i can get that ugly tarmac sticker off
