...and I thought my Tarmac was quick...(rode a 595)

I rode a teammates Look 595 Elite last night...what a mistake...I want one!!!
I was really taken back at how much quicker and stiffer it felt. I got back on my Tarmac and it felt like I was driving a tuna boat! However, I will say that the Tarmac is ALOT more comfy. But the 595 was definately quicker up and down hills and it sprints like a champ. The "flickability" of that frame is insane!
Kudos to the designers and engineers at LOOK!

That is all...

I dislike posts like this. I like my Tarmac and would like to keep liking it for years to come. Please don't bankrupt me by telling me there's something better.

For the love of God, please don't.

TRaffic Jammer 07-11-07 11:21 AM

 There's always something better, otherwise you racing in France and not visiting the web.

I thought the whole point of the Tarmac series was a more comfortable distance-type geo?

No, that's the Roubaix.

Do you have the S-Works Tarmac SL?

No, I have the Tarmac Expert.
However, I have ridden an SL and yes it is quite a bit qucker than my non-SL Tarmac. It definately compares better to the 595. The 595 just seemed "whippier." If that makes sense...

Campag4life 07-11-07 11:58 AM

I have never heard anybody not like a Look frame so I had to try one. As soon as I did, I bought one.
You can feel the lineage...Look being the pioneers of CF bicycle racing bike frames.

TRaffic Jammer 07-11-07 12:05 PM

What is Boonan riding this year? I saw a little blurb on TV... vry nice. Two differing widths in the headset for stiffness, square seat tube.... nice CF work.

Tarmac SL2.

3MTA3 07-11-07 12:07 PM

look ftw.

TRaffic Jammer 07-11-07 12:11 PM

That SL2 is a nice ride...I like what they've done with the head tube flaring.

terry b 07-11-07 01:58 PM

A Calfee Tetra Pro was the best CF bike I'd ridden, until I rode a Colnago C50.

The Colnago C50 was the best CF frame I'd ever ridden until I tried a Parlee Z2.

That Parlee Z2 was the best CF frame I'd ever ridden, until I picked up a Look 595 this past spring. Now that's a CF bike.

My Look 595 was the best CF frame I'd ever ridden, until I picked up a custom Crumpton SL. That bike is the best CF bike I've ever ridden, hands down.

When does it stop?

crash13 07-11-07 03:08 PM

terry b's got a great point...
can you explain this to my wife....anyone???

MIN 07-11-07 03:40 PM

Terry did you have a picture of your Crumption SL?

terry b 07-11-07 04:11 PM

UTmtnbiker 07-11-07 04:40 PM

I've been slowly upgrading parts on my Tarmac Expert in lieu of buying a new bike or frame. I figure that'll satiate my desire this year to buy a new bike.

It's posts like this that make me question my wisdom in doing that.

crash13 07-11-07 04:48 PM

Sorry UT...I wish i never rode the damn thing...Now I'm in the same boat as you....
I hate to say it, but it really put my Tarmac to shame.

El Diablo Rojo 07-11-07 04:48 PM

Let the Devil tempt you further...you want one yes?

But the Angel on my right shoulder says no...I must be responsible with my $$$

Can I draw from the discard pile?

terry b 07-11-07 04:59 PM

If white isn't tempting enough to shut up that Angel, try black -

Baaaaahaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!! come to the LOOK my friend come to the LOOK....

MIN 07-11-07 05:06 PM

Terry I'm curious: why do you run 120 mm length stem when you have a custom frame? Some about the way that it handles with a relatively longer stem?
