BMC SL01 sizing question....

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

BMC SL01 sizing question....

Well I had an 04 S-works e5 bike in a 56 that I wasn't really riding. Sadly about a month ago I sold the old girl. Now the problem is I wish I had it back. I would like a new bike and was looking at a BMC SL01 frame. Would a 56 probably be the correct size for me as well, (Ive heard BMC's run a little larger). Just for info I am 6'0 w/ a 32 inseam and 167 lbs. Also if I purchased where would be the best place to buy a groupset online? Im considering Ultegra or Centaur.

Thanks,
Chilton

BMC's run large, and odd sizes (53, 55, 57, etc...NEVERMIND, only for the SLT01 and SLC01)

I'm 5'10" and some change (137 lb...but that makes no diff), and ride a 57cm SLT01 Team Machine...prob should've gone with a 55; but the 57 suits me just fine with a 100mm stem.

Probably not the cheapest deal (never equate cheapest w/ best), but I'd go with Competitive Cyclist. They've got a sick interface to swap out parts in your build and calculate the price.

Also: if you've got the patience, do their SL01 Demo program...$200 and the cost goes towards your purchase if you decide to buy.

I would say find out the geometry of your old bike and buy the BMC size that is closest.

will my most important measurement simply be TT length? It was 565mm on the sworks and I cant tell if its 570 or 562 on the BMC site. What are other important measurements?

I am 6'0" with a 31" inseam, and my 55 cm Pro Machine fits me fine.

If you liked the last bike it sounds like a 56 would work. If the TT is too short just get a longer stem.

However, since you are not sure a Test Ride would be best. Competitivecylist.com does demos for $200 and applies $100 of that to a purchase of a bike.

Sorry...just now realized you're considering the Road Racer (SL01) and not the Pro Machine (SLC01)
