Heh....I was sorta considering heading down Rte. 89 and then up Rte. 195/Spring Hill for the finisher to the ride, but I figured people would probably want to kill me at that point, so I think just heading up Rte. 44 back to Storrs is probably the "easiest" way back. Still hilly, but not as steep as the other routes.

Hehe, yeah, Spring Hill can be a bear... I did that at the tail end of a 70 miler (that went along 244, then down along rte 14.... another good hilly route). My riding partner got all hypoglycemic on the way back up to the 'HUS parking lot.
Either way, I'd check to make sure your riders aren't carrying lethal weapons with the route you have planned currently

Yeah, I'm gonna pre-ride it next weekend I think - doing the Summer Breeze century this Sunday, so I don't feel like destroying myself on Saturday....plus I think I'm getting a bit of a cold. Been taking Airborne the last day.

I might be interested...I just need to figure out how much of my day this will take up and if it's worth it. Somehow I need to justify driving 160miles (round trip) to ride 60

How about making a weekend of it? UCONN ride on Saturday (could always do some warm-up miles and/or some cooldown miles to extend the distance) and then explore lovely Connecticut for the afternoon and stick around to ride The Tour of The Litchfield Hills on Sunday (77.4 miles of fun with marked routes, ride support, food entertainment... and of course, more BF'ers ... and some kickin' hills to roll over).

And, as a bonus, if you ride with spindog & me, you'll almost certainly get more miles in then you bargained for. I have a special knack for finding some "fun" "warm-up miles" when I'm in Connecticut.

Considering everything you were carrying, and the fact you did 104 miles the previous day, you kept up just fine . I thought the overall pace was perfect, actually.
That was a fun little hill sprint I did with botto though, but after 80 miles in the legs, they didn't have quite as much "ooomph" in 'em as I would've liked.

Not sure I want to see an appropriate amount of "ooomph" from you, as that was mighty impressive. I figured spindog and I would see you at the finish line. I thought you were gone for good!

Nah, I almost started getting out of breath by the time we hit the stop sign
Had a decent little "group" ride tonight though....all four of us LOL. A Cat 3/Masters 45+ guy, a Cat 4 guy, and another member (non-racer). I was fairly competitive on the climbs today, around 2,000 feet in 30 miles, including some "sprints" up double digit grades (max 14% - that hurt trying to hammer up it). Good stuff. Me and the Cat 4 dude were a pretty even draw....he's shorter than me, a bit stockier but much more powerful....the Cat 3 dude is more of a sprinter-type, but hung in a bit on the climbs.
I'm probably going to need to bring a chalk board to the Saturday ride to "talk" in case my mouth doesn't work

Well....I'm not so much concerned with the pain as I am with opening up the wounds and what not. Oh yeah, and being able to fuel myself in the days prior . I think I'll need to order another some more Endurox.

Bah, I'm out. I committed a few weeks ago to biking on Block Island this coming weekend. I called to confirm yesterday and, so far, the trip is on. So unless someone becomes ill or their car craps out that's where I'll be. Perhaps another time.
