Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Terry Fly Carbon Saddle

I am in the market for a new saddle and i had my eye on the terry fly carbon saddle. I don't know if my size would have anything to do with the comfort or if my big butt would break the carbon rails. (6' 2" 235) I was wondering some of the pros and cons or if i should avoid it all togother.

Thanks

i wouldn't suggest a carbon saddle to anyone over 185 pounds, let alone 235 pounds...

If you do buy, make sure it will fit your seatpost. the carbon rails are a tad larger diameter than the Ti rails.

I don't know about the carbon model, but I just recently purchased the Tri Fly Gel. Best freakin' saddle ever, IMHO (coming from an Arione).

I took a Titanium Fly off my bike this spring after 260 miles of riding. Was it uncomfortable? No, most comfortable chair I've ever ridden. But it weighed 90 or 100 grams more than the Specialized Toupe I replaced it with, and I was determined to get a lighter bike/rider combination without having to actually lose any weight.

Anyway, if you are interested in the titanium rail model, drop me a PM; I was planning on putting it on the 'Bay in August, but for loyal BF-ists I could cut out the middleman.

Matt

I'm 210 and use that saddle and really like it. JayC is closer to your weight and he uses it too.

No issues from either of us, except I noticed that the white one seemed to show wear rather quickly.
