Sidi vs. Shimano
Here's the links to both...
https://www.coloradocyclist.com/commo...429&TextMode=0
https://www.competitivecyclist.com/za...MODE=&TFC=TRUE
They are both the same price...shimano has the carbon fiber sole, but the sidi uses fiberglass. I've heard great things about Sidi (comfort) but wonder if the carbon sole would be a better deal.

I love my Sidi's but I would get the carbon sole over the glass sole. What type of riding are you doing anyway??

both company's make really good shoes. The Carbon should be stiffer than the fiber glass sole but sometimes you can't always tell the difference.
I would suggest that you first make a short list of what you are looking for in your desired shoe.... go out and find a few LBS or chain cycling shops near you. Ask if any of these shops carry one or both of these shoes. Head out to the shops and try them on.
Test how they fit. While you are trying them on take out your list and run through it. While you are testing out the shoes you might want to try on a few other brands just for the hell of it. You never know you might find another brand that works better than the two you're looking at.
It's never a good idea to blindly buy shoes or helmets off the net with out trying them on first...
I'm only saying this because not all shoes are cut the same ... almost every cycling shoe company sizes it's shoe different nothing is cut in a standard size... and it just sucks having to wait for your shoes to ship to ya and then receiving them only to find out you don’t really like how they fit and you have to send them back…

I just got a new pair of Sidi's today after having some crap fifty dollar shoes. I absolutely love them. The carbon fiber sole though would be stiffer as stated above.

You should really do anything possible to be able to try these shoes on before making a decision. Sidi's are awesome; everybody loves 'em, including my girlfriend, but they absolutely did not fit my feet and were the most uncomfortable brand I have ever tried on. Some brands cater to different types of feet, so you should always take that issue into consideration.

A buddy of mine has a pair of the shimano's...I just tried them on and 45's will fit perfectly. Lucky me.
Just a question of protocol...is colorado cyclist decent with return warranties, shipping quickly and customer service?

I have those Shimano's.
Can't say anything bad about them besides the heel is made of cheap plastic.

Sidis are great if you have narrow feet. Mine fit like gloves.
I forget what the name of my Sidi's are, but they use the same compound for the sole. I race in them ,and they're plenty stiff.
I did try a pair of Shimano shoes once, but they seemed kind of flexy. Didn't have the carbon soles though, so YMMV.
