Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pump for Hed 3

I recently bought a Hed 3 clincher and have found pumping up the tire on it to be quite annoying. I have a "hed crack pipe" adapter to fit in the valve cutout, but these are yet another annoyance (difficult to pump a tire to a high pressure since one hand has to be holding it on the valve; doesn't seal very well in my pump head [a Specialized something or other]; hard to get off the valve; etc). The only thing that has consistently worked well on it has been my microflate, but i'd rather not burn a c02 cartridge every day. Any pumps out there that work particularly well for Hed 3's and other similar wheels (ideally one that the pump head fits in the cutout!)?

The crack pipe is a pain. Get a Hirame HP-20. By far the best pump head I've ever seen. Right angle with a locking lever; very positive seal (and the seal is even adjustable to make sure you get a positive fit on presta valves with slightly different sizes.)
