Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't think so... I've used Active many times and don't remember there being a service fee. If there is it will break it down b/f final payment so you can close out if you want to.

I even used it as a fund-raising tracker for a marathon last year. I don't like the new look, it's very "un-user" friendly but...legit site, no worries.

it varies by event
I have found some where active.com was more expensive and some where it was cheaper

so you have to do your own homework on event you are considering

I have yet to see anything I was looking at that was cheaper through active than registering by mail or in person unless there was a late fee for day of registration. Now it is a LOT quicker and less hassle than mail, for a small fee...

yes. sometimes it's rolled into your reg fee and sometimes it's tacked on to it.

Last time I registered through Active.com their fee ran about 10%. I've seen events where the promoter rolls the fee into the registration fee so there's no additional cost.
