Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

know of any 'local' jerseys available for sale?

Hello.

I'm looking for small-run jerseys - like the ones that a local bicycle shop might put out for their local cycling teams or groups, or jerseys from various events. Do you know of any small not-easy-to-find internet shops that might sell a jersey like this?

(for example, I saw one jersey that was black with a red cross on it... said Bicycle Doctor and was referring to a shop in Saskatchewan(sp). I thought it was really sweet looking, but sadly couldn't find a way to aquire one....)

Any links or postings would help.

Thanks.

"Saskatchewan. The Bike Doctor 623 Main St. E. Sasketoon, Saskatchewan S7H-0J8"

If you gave them a call, I would have thought they'd be only too happy to sell one to you (if they have any left).

I've seen a bunch of stuff like this on eBay, too. I would try there.

Kind of a cool idea.

You can find lots of cheap bike shop and century jerseys on EBay.

Personally, I prefer jerseys from centuries that I actually participated in. If you meet someone on the road, the first thing they will ask you is "how was the century". I suppose you could answer that you are just a poseur.

I'll sell you our team jersey it's pretty sweet... red/black and one of the older guys on the team works for a top graphic design firm (does a lot of stuff for big companies like giant, sram, etc) so it looks way cool.

also check out : https://www.westhillshop.com/ for a cool shop jersey

I tried to buy some JONES kit from Jones Bicycles in Australia, and, after a very limited initial response, they did not respond to my email indicating a desire to purchase, and giving them my measurements to get proper fit. Bummer...

In Ohio recently, I picked up and Eddy's Bike Shop jersey. https://eddys.com/itemdetails.cfm?ID=9193

Almost every shop has a team jersey these days. Visit their website, check it out and then call them up and order one.

You can order one of the Santa Rosa Cycling Club jerseys If you don't mind NorCal riders asking you why they couldn't sign up for the Wine Country Century. There also may be some WCC jerseys available.

I've wanted to get a club jersey from a club in Belgium, or maybe a pub in Belgium if those existed.

Any ideas?

Helen's Cycles in Arcadia has a pretty sweet kit - I would have gotten one had the colors not clashed with the bike I normally ride.

Are you looking for jerseys from any specific event? I have a brand-new Seattle-to-Portland (STP) one I had gotten last month if you are interested.

I'm looking for a Medium size...
and personally, more interested in the graphic/style and the 'message' rather than the event. For example, for a while (and still) I would specifically seek soccer/football jerseys that were sponsored by unique companies or various random-spot-in-the-world strangeness, or a twist on the word. My Toulouse FC jersey has a sponsor's graphic that reads "OLA" written like a winking smile - it works two ways: sounds like "HOLA!" which means hello in spanish, and OLA itself is a wave (oceanic) in spanish. Even though the team is in the French Ligue 1.

Locally, the BikeSwarm group had a jersey set made that not only had a great graphic of LA's Downtown skyline, but also sponsors by local urban cyclist anchors like Orange20, Bicycle Kitchen, and PureLuck Cafe... unfortunately the main people behind BikeSwarm are elitist on a high-school level and snobby. But it's great to see other people around who are positive in sharing and having people want to wear their jersey with pride.

Anyway, these are great suggestions guys, I really appreciate the responses!! I'll give the BicycleDoctor up in Saskatoon a call soon.

On the note of this thread - I'm sure I'm not the only person who sometimes seeks out the unique jersey... plus, sometimes a run of jerseys from a local event/club/team runs in excess and they might want to sell them off... how about we start a sticky thread where people can post their available (new) jerseys that would be available for sale?

It would be good.

My wife found a red jersey from the Russian Cycling Team, I think. The graphics are all in Russian. Found it at a thrift store. But no we don't want to sell it. Sorry.
