Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Great looking bikes everyone. I may be picking this '06 up Friday. Wish me luck!

Sorry for the happy seller photos. I'll be posting better ones if I get her.

My guess is around the 400-500 maybe 600 with the easton wheels. The bike should weigh right around 22 lbs. Is that a triple or double crankset?

Triple.

Besides the wheel it also has a Cateye Double wireless computer. Are those set up to show you what gear your in?

Pretty Sure you would need a Shimano 9 spd Flight Deck Computer to display gearing on your comp. The plus side is it calculates your cadence (according to speed and gear ratio) You Cateye, is a nicer unit but will NOT display the gears.

Edit:
You need this https://www.yourprosolutions.com/prod...d9b0d7e4914f63

My '09 Allez Compact

Spent 20 years bikeless, got this '09 in '09, and in March of this year alone I put more miles on it than I did in all of '10. I didn't ride a single mile on '11. Longer toeclips fixed the numb toes, moved the saddle back a bit (K 1/2" BPS works best for me) , and flipped the stem to get my back, arms and hands used to riding again. As I get better, the stem will get flipped back. Before all that fit was almost good, but not good enough. Now it's perfect for my current needs. HTFU should take care of what's left.

The flat black paint on the shifter cables are to reduce hot-spots from the headlight, I actually do night-ride this quite a bit.

I know, still has clips and straps.. I still sometimes putz around in street clothes to the grocer's and whatnot. But most of the time, it's being ridden proper to regain fitness.

Love the Allez. What a bike for not much cash. I'd almost call it a relaxed bike!

Eventually I'll complement it with a late 80's Schwinn like a Peloton, Circuit, Paramount, those were the bikes I lusted after, but couldn't get. I made do with an '87 Traveler on 700c wheels. Loved it!

Once I do get that Old Bike, the Allez will get a top to bottom makeover with 105 and spd, and presuming I'm fit enough by then, I'll probably race it in whatever class old farts race in.

Thanks drummer. 19lbs with pedals and cages, 1700gr wheels and Heavy bontrager tires. And yes, stem flipped.

And inkan. It would be the masters races. (40-50. 50-60. 60+) Typically.
Nice allez. Glad to hear your finally giving it some of the attention it deserves.

Got my new November RFSC38 wheels in this week. Completely changes the look and feel of the bike. Also swapped out the hyperglide cassette for a DA cassette. And yes, it is time for some new bar tape. I kinda like the dirty white tape though, just means I use my bike.

52-42-30 Triple - I hate the triple but it's just not worth it right now to switch to a standard or compact so I just use the 52 & 42

Great set of gears for a wide variety of terrain. Nothing wrong with the triple. But I do enjoy the operation of the double setup nicer.

I agree, I just don't use the 30 front ring at all any more since the hills I encounter are not that severe. It's nice to have just in case though.

Even went to compact double on my touring bike. The only triples in my house now are on other peoples bikes, or my mountain bikes girlfriends hybrid.

I wonder why, if they are both Allez Sport triples, are our seat stays different? Mine curved and yours are straight.

Mine is not the sport. Just the Allez Triple. Also Mine maybe of a 05 variety. The Shop said 06 but I bought it used. The unpainted fork makes a huge visual difference between the two and I think the curved stays difference are just a trick of the camera.

Looks nice, very nice. Any issues with the CF tubing and durability? I almost picked one of these up off of CL but after reading a few bad reviews I decided against it.

No camera trick. The Sport has different stays than yours.

Is that a lugged steel frame?
