I know, but both of my sources for spokes were out of black in the right size at the time, and I got tired of waiting.

A quick story about my ride. I got a smoking deal on this bike due to a friend who is best friends with the owner of the shop. I was a day away from getting a Giant until this deal came along. Glad I waited not only because of the price, but the bike seems to not be as spread out. Hence, it's more comfortable than the Giant I rode since I'm not so sprawled out. I'm new to cycling and think that a bike even 3lbs lighter won't make that much of a difference. I'm thinking if I drop from 189 lbs to 175 lbs that will make a bigger difference than adding carbon wheels. I'm about to throw some black tape on the allez to break up some of the white.

cardoodle. Glad to hear you got a sweet deal on the bike. The allez is a fantastic entry/performance road bike. If it were me, I would put red tape on it and look for a specalized Toupe Black/Red saddle.

Thanks!! I really love it. The red tape is a great idea, I'm really going to have to think about that. I don't know if I will change the saddle, as my butt is just now starting to get used to it.

2003 Allez Elite. Mavic Open Pro rims with Ultegra hubs replace the stock Alex 330 rims. Spd pedals, SDG saddle and red bar tape. Many thousands of miles and no problems. Go Specialized!

Voila, 2011 Allez Elite. Mostly still stock, and I don't plan to swap much out yet.

Photos don't quite do the paint job justice.
I might put a slightly larger cassette on it, I haven't decided yet.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for blue.
The last time I was tempted to get an Allez it was also blue:

I am a tad curious as to why they dropped the Zertz inserts, though I suspect they don't do much anyway.

Finally got my Specialized BG fitting on my Allez and my new bars and stem are on to fit my abnormally long arms. Sorry, no white garage door.

Sorry no pictures, 1984 Allez second owner and is mostly Shimano Dura Ace with the Dyna drive pedal system. It is also built with Campy hubs with new MA 2(Saturne tubular rims were original),shifters and seat post. Specialized offered it both ways so some 20 yrs. later this bike is just hang'n out. I still don't know what way to go with this, all Campy or all Dura ace and yes I have the parts for ether direction.

I finally took a proper white garage door shot. Probably still not BF approved with the heavy shadows but I just went out for a ride and wanted to take the pics before I put it away.
I was thinking about cleaning it today but it looks like there's more wet weather in the forecast this week so that hardly pays.

Behind EVERYone!!!
I took a look at one of these when I was out shopping or a new bike. If I had liked the shop I would have given it more consideration but the guy I spoke to was a tool. It is one sharp looking bike though, and I do like the SRAM gruppo on it.
Cheers,
Brian J.

Pulled the disk, flipped it and found a proper garage door. Thinking about pulling the stickers off my boutique Alex rims.

OK you all inspired me!
Brifters are in the parts box, Cinelli stem and bars from the LBS, Ultegra Levers from Ebay by way of Poland, and Ultegra bar ends from a member here... The wheels may be toast but the LBS will help out there.... Just need a saddle and some bar tape, and a lot of cleaning and lubing...
