Whats your LBS charge to build a wheel?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Whats your LBS charge to build a wheel?

Traditional 3 cross wheel, 32 spokes, nothing exotic.. just wondering what the going rate is to have a wheel built these days.

$40-$50. Waste of money, do it yourself and spend this money on better rims. IMHO.

$1 for a spoke/nipple and $25 - $30/wheel labor. Figure approx $60 per wheel less hub and rim. I've called lots of shops in the Greater Clev area and they're all about the same.

I had a wheel built for $30, without spokes though. $15 for assembly, $15 for truing and tensioning.

I think what i'll do nowdays is buy all the parts, assemble it myself (very easy to do just potentially time consuming), then take it to the shop to true and tension (which i tried doing but couldn't get the vertical truing done right or the tension).

I think it is either $25 or $30 plus the parts cost...but they haven't built me a wheel that has stayed true for very long so I decided to build my own. Now it is just a matter of time to see if the time I put into my first build results in a better wheel.
