What's Up With Performance?!

I received an ad from Performance, this past Sat morning, showing 20% (double points) discounts for Team Performance members, for Aug 4th & 5th. I decided to join, since I needed a few items anyway. I joined online Sat morning, and went to Performance in Greensboro, that afternoon. I spent around $238 and mentioned to the clerk that I had joined Team Performance that morning, and I should get a 20% credit toward my next purchase. He asked if I had my Team number, and I told him that they hadn't given it to me yet, but I had my receipt, from the membership purchase. He said that I would have to contact customer service, and they would credit the 20% toward my account.

Monday morning, I called customer service, and the lady said to have Performance send a fax of my register receipt to their office, and they would take care of it. I contacted Performance and the clerk I spoke with said he would handle it. I checked my account Tuesday, and no credit! Wednesday I decided to fax a copy of the receipt, myself. I called customer service and the lady confirmed that she had received the fax, and that she would take care of it. I checked my account Thursday, and no credit! I sent another fax, of the receipt, along with a message stating that I've contacted customer service TWICE, in the last three days, with no results. I checked my account this morning, and again, no credit!

All together, there's been three faxes sent, three phone calls, and two e-mails to Team Performance, but no credit! I'm a man of patience, but it's starting to wear thin! I would like to use my credit toward a pair of shoes, a HRM, and take advantage of the free shipping on $75 purchases, but time is running out on the free shipping offer, and I'm not getting anywhere!

If there are any Performance Customer Reps reading this.......HELP!!! You're about to lose a valuable customer!

Be Patient

E Z, Big Fella.

It may appear bogus at first, but once you are in the system, it will save you money.

I had a few problems at first, but I love the P stuff and prices. It is a small business.

Be cool !!

I no longer buy from Performance because they are such a massive pain in the ass to deal with.

I bought some pedals during the double points weekend and at first the double points didn't show up. After the pedals arrived I checked again and it was corrected. If you just joined TP it may take a while to get it in the system but just give it a few days and I bet it will be corrected.

By the way there is now a 15% off coupon (6002377) to go along with free shipping and of course your normal 10% back now.

The OP made me dizzy.

What's your time worth?

Since when is Performance/Nashbar/that third place they bought that I can't remember the name of a small business?

R900 08-10-07 08:46 AM

They have ALWAYS been fair and honest, and corrected any issues that I've ever had. I would call and talk to someone and ask how the process was going, if you have your sales slips, they'll be glad to get everything worked out. You might also give them a couple days to get everything worked out, new member, crediting points, etc...

From my experience, poor customer service is becoming more and more common for many companies. It's especially maddening to me when a company doesn't hire enough staff to handle calls.

Don't worry. You'll soon be getting Bicycling Magazine and your life will be perfect. You'll learn all about "Twelve Tough Roads in Antartica" you'll want to ride and "Doing a Century the Easy Way" and "Five Climbs in Madigascar" and "A Century -- No Problem" and "A Ten Week Training Plan For A Century" and "Ride 100 Miles -- Here's How to Do It" and of course reviews of $10,000 bikes so you can get several.

Supergo. I miss Supergo.

I had a points issue once, went in and saw the local store manager and he got involved. He called the office while I was in the store and got it squared away. Took a couple of days for it to show in their system.

Oh, I'm sure it's on the up & up. I'm due $47 credit from the sale, last Sat. I'll just be glad when I can use it!
I had to take my frustrations out on something! My keyboard was the nearest object :D

Great! I can show the wifey a legitimate reason, for buying a bike that's valued higher than our three autos, combined ;)

I finally received my double points! The balance of the universe has been restored :D

Performance sucks.

Bike enthusiast 08-10-07 09:32 PM

What??? OP states for Sept 4. and 5.... It is NOT September yet... I am confused....

Perfomance still has some good things and some decent deals, but man they have watered down that place in the last 4 or so years. Really curious what that place will be like in lets say four more years.

I haven't bought from Performance catalog or web in years. Nothing in particular to gripe about with them, only they've become more of a "clothes shoppe" than an outlet for essential parts. Once your name and address is "in their system", your mail box will get filled till the end of time with catalogs, flyers, coupons, and junk mail from dozens of other places they "share" your name with, even if you haven't ordered in years.

No.

Apple Computer is a 'large business'. Performance is not.

I've had nothing but good luck with Performance. I'm not a big customer but, some of their sales and coupons provide for a healthy price break. They also have a decent inventory, especially in the two stores in Raleigh. Heck, I even had their mechanic work on my bike one time and was pleased with the result. Their return policy is about as good as can be expected. Probably better than many LBSs'.

They don't care. They have other customers.
