Finished my wheelset.
I finished building my new wheelset today.
Components: IRD Cadence Aero rims. Speedcific Serenity hubs. DT Revolution spokes. Details: Front: 20 hole radial Read 24 hole 2 cross. Weights - no rim strip, skewers or decals: ;) Front 619 grams Rear 795 grams I probably didn't save much over a pre-built set, but it was fun, and I'll only have myself to blame if they suck. Total cost was a little under $400. I'm gonna save them for my Pedal Force ZX3, but I'll probably take them out for a spin sometime before that. http://home.comcast.net/~strombad/wheels.jpg |
Very nice looking!

Wow!!!
Fantastic. Where did you buy all the parts? And, how much more do you think it would be to go with black bladed spokes instead? This is exactly what I'm looking for to install on my wife's bike. |
nice

Hubs: http://oddsandendos.safeshopper.com/7/cat7.htm?284 Spokes: http://www.excelsports.com/new.asp?p...jor=1&minor=30 They had the DT Aerolites in black. They were $4.00 a piece. I would have preferred black spokes, but they didn't have the DT Revolutions in black, and I didn't quite want them $4 a piece bad. |
Very nice! Nice weight as well. Sure you didn't save weight, but they're HANDBUILT by YOU!!!

Ride Report when you take them out!

Sweet! Congrats

Nice wheels.....you have me THINKING!!!!!
The options of what rims and spokes and hub seems like a lot....I realize that is part of the attraction to wheels building BUT on the other hand it is daunting. Where do I start? What to pick and why? What not to pick and why not..... give us a ride report!!! |

Good looking set of wheels, even better that you built them yourself, there is a lot of pride in that
At 1414 grams, I would say that is lighter than most Boutique prebuilts. |
I hope you weigh under 130 lbs (or so)...Otherwise that rear wheel will not hold up very well. I have doubts about the front wheel, too. Those Revolution spokes don't hold tension very well.

You could have had a better product for less:

Nice build. I'm cranking out a set of Speedcific Serenity hubs laced to DT Swiss RR1.1 rims right now. 2X front and rear and I am coming in at 1560g for the set. I thought I was doing good....;)
