How much for a Cyfac

I have the opportunity to pick up a very good condition Cyfac road frame, size 54, with Time fork. It is a model year 1999 and is made of columbus altec 2 tubing. I am wondering what the forum opinion of a fair price is.

Obviously a high quality frameset, but a bit old. I do not need a frame right now, but I am wondering if I should pick it up, if I can get it at a good price.

So, that being said, fire away with your quotes.

any idea how many miles on it roughly? i'd guess a fair price at between 200-250$ max. if it's been ridden consistently for almost 9 years though i'd be a little concerned with fatigue. Cyfacs in generalare so rad though...

I am guessing a ton of miles. It was a semi-pro race team bike (for several years I think), and the owner has had it ever since. I would imagine that it has been sitting around for the last several years, as they are on new team bikes.

Yeah, the thing that I am a bit torn about is that it seems crazy to spend several hundred dollars on a 8 year old AL frame, but at the same time, it is a handmade cyfac. I am not sure exactly how to value that.

I was thinking around $200 as well, but I am still up in the air as to whether or not that is even worth that.

I love the Cyfac frames, but I'm not sure I'd pay more than $150 for an 8 year old frame, assuming it's been a semi-pro frame, so it's seen a lot of road miles.

If it's a 1999 frame, make sure to pay in French Francs. The Euro was not introduced as a physical currency until 2002, and therefore that frame was made and originally sold in FF.

True, everything in France was much more affordable before the Euro.
