Can you change a Campy hub cassette body to Shimano?
Like the title says. Does anyone know if I can change the cassette body on some record hubs to a Shimano spline pattern?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yes you can, but the ease depends on the type of hub...
I have a Shimano Easton Ascent II wheelset and for $60 picked up a Campy freehub body...
I quickly switch between the two...
However, the Easton freehub body does not fit on my Specific hubs...
Edit...Here is some info on freehub body cleaning...

If you mean on a Campy Record hub then the answer is no. As others have said, some wheel/hub manfacturers make both available. There are also some Campy wheelsets that can be changed to Shimano splined freehub, but they don't use Record hubs.

Since you can't get a Shim-compatible cassette body for your Record hubs and there doesn't seem to be a Shim-compatible conversion cassette for Campy hubs, you might want to try using the Record hub with a Campy cassette and your Shimano drivetrain by using a Shiftmate:
https://www.jtekengineering.com/shiftmate.htm
I can't vouch for it's performance.

No, you cannot change it on a Record hub. Try the Campy cassette though, it may work fine.

Thanks for all the replies. I was planning to build up a set of wheels with Record hubs to use with my Shimano drivetrain but I guess I'll try something else.

i'm not completely sure if this will work, but campy has a cassette body for shimano PN# WH-KX10 for 2007 hubs and wheels. its WH-KX1 or WH-KX2 for 2006 hubs (record, chorus)
so what year hubs do you have? (its all in the spare parts catalog)

if you can't find a way to change the freehub, another option would be to try to find an altered casette, Wheels Manufacturing does alot for running Campy on a shimano freehub, but I'm not sure where to find shimano spaced casettes for a campy freehub.
Hope this helps

I have a Shimano hub with Shimano cassette and hub with Campy spacers (all 8-speed) and it works well on my Campy Record.
I also have a Campy Eurus wheelset with a Campy 9/10 speed hub, and I bought a spacer set specifically to run Campy 8 speed on that hub (the reason being that newer wheelsets don't have 8 speed hubs anymore). It involves removing one of the cogs from a 9-speed cassette. Works fine BTW. I don't remember the brand but I got the spacer set from Branford Bikes, which is apparently back in business. They had tons of coversion kits like that for different solutions.
I don't know about newer 10 speed, but I have been told that a Shimano 10 speed cassette will work with Campy 10 speed gruppos and vice versa. Supposedly the spacing is the same.

I bought a set of Campy Neutrons wheels (with record hubs, I assume) on ebay but the seller mistakenly listed them as Campy compatible. They were not, they were for Shimano. He sent me a Campy feehub and I switched it out with no problems. Not that hard to do. If I can do it, anyone can. Hope that helps!

What are we talking about here guys. YES you can buy an HG splined freehub body for Campy Record hubs...it is a Chorus level part but you can get it:
https://aebike.com/page.cfm?PageID=30...ils&sku=FW9841
The Chorus and Record hubs are nearly identical...the front hubs are identical...so this part will work just fine.
See page 16 here for the exploded view: https://www.campagnolo.com/pdf/spares05_B.pdf

No problem...but you may have a problem...not sure the new 07 hubs have the option...since I have the 05 hub I was speaking from that standpoint and didn't know they changed the axle design...so the 05 FH body wont work with the 07 design...according to page 19 here: https://www.campagnolo.com/pdf/spares07_B_0407.pdf
