Post youre BikesDirects bike
Since there have been many "post your ***** bike picture threads", i just want to see some bikedirect bikes from better cameras/camera angles than on bikesdirect/ebay. It would be great if you note you're experience on the bike too.

I haven't put on very many miles, but I am just getting back into biking after not doing it for probably 11-12 years. I have just over 40 miles so far on it and so far has been a very nice bike. It was pretty rough riding but I put that too it being just a road bike, but since buying a tire gauge for it *had to order it online as neither Wal-Mart nor the LBS carried a presta valve gauge* I found out I was only at 40-50 psi. The recommended max is 90 psi on these tires. After getting it up to 80 or so psi it rode much more smoothly and was considerably faster as well.
I'm glad I went that way versus the LBS as I saved over $300 in doing so. If your able to handle a wrench, you should be just fine in putting a bike together.

Enough!
This is beginning to sound like a Marx brothers puppet comedey, where the left hand is talking with the right hand... All the while it is the same person answering their own "questions".
Otoh, apparently good strtegy by BD (ie. always keeping their products in the BF public eye), although regulars here are seeing right thru the strategy.

Hey lets give this thing a chance!!!
, I am new to riding..... I would like to see some of the bikes that real riders have and are using.... I am new to riding after more than a decade absence and even when I was in the service and got my driving on base privies taken away and just took my car home and bought a nishika bike and road it or walked everywhere... I never really considers myself a cyclist, but maybe I should have......
So now I am looking to get a road bike... I really like the Fuji team, but the $$$$, it would cost to ride it sure do make me hope for a nice bike that would ride as nice.....
I do not know if I will ride forever, but thus far I am really enjoying it a know that were I live there are vast areas to ride, all pretty hilly in my opinion.....
I see these bike on line and then wonder what makes the lbs stores have their non top of the line bikes priced so much higher....
This will be the bike I buy and ride until it no longer goes, I know that the lbs is here and will give me one year free adjustments on their bike, but how hard can adjusting the derailers, cables and shifters be?
I know anything to do with the tire would be an issue....
So if you really have a road bike and you are really riding, post up some photos and stories good or bad....
Hey if I had the ability to go out or I guess instead of having the ability really wanted to go out and spend a few grand on a bicycle I would... but when I go in to my local motorcycle retailers and see motorcycles for those prices I just can not see doing it at this time.....besides with a motorcycle if you have a mishap their is insurance to cover it less the 250. deductible....
do those of you that have expensive bike have insurance that covers if you have a mishap?
forgive the rant and or hijack of this thread if this is deemed to be, but I would just like to buy a road bike that is safe, light and has components that will last and do the job....
besides, I am sure the word charge back, works whether you purchase from a lbs or on line retailer if the product is defective.......
So real bikes direct riders show us your rides and how you like them.....if you do not have one and are not interested in getting some information on them, why would you post to the topic anyway**********

if your gonna get a BD bike, check and see if there is a cycle spectrum in your area. they sell the BD bikes at same or better prices (if on sale). plus cycle spectrum is free labor/service for life. this is one of the big reasons i baught bike from them.

Here is mine...really shares nothing in common with the bike as it was sold...I bought the fork and frame from another member who bought the bike to strip it for the Record components. I have said it before and I will say it again...BD should sell this frame in a build similar to the way I have it for around a grand. Awesome bike, perfect for crits stiff and nimble...and cheap.

Yep, they're laterally stiff yet vertically compliant. In addition, this bike climbs like a pissed off monkey, descends like a greased squirrel on a luge, corners like a decagon, and accelerates like a methamphetamine-addicted rabbit. (Or like a Porsche being driven by a methamphetamine-addicted rabbit.)

I need one of THOSE. My bike climbs like a overweight donkey. Oh wait. Maybe that's me.

Actually I stole most it from WW on another forum who got it from Bike Snob NYC. It's good stuff, though.
BD should really think about using it. It would go well with their Motobecane name and sensational advertising.

I just finished assembling my BD bike (the ultegra/AC 420) and I feel that members on this forum would benefit from the low prices if it weren't for the unappealing "sensational advertising" (blow-hard descriptions on their site) and that good ol' fashioned cyclist snobbery from members with finer cycles. I can understand why people at a LBS would shun BD but on the Internet it seems almost natural that BD would be the vendor of choice for forum users who can make up for the lack of service by exchanging advice and save good money that way.
It's a shame, really.

On topic, I love that BD is now starting to establish shills a month before so they can get a few posts under their belt.
I have to ask - Wouldn't a better strategy be honesty? Why not start a thread called, "Check out our awesome bikes at reduced prices" and let people who are open to your product check it out. I see some real posters here who really think they got a good deal for the money they spent at BD, so why not be transparent rather than try to act all secret squirrel? Is one duped customer a better customer than a forum of thousands who trust you to be honest? At the price, I'm sure they are fine bikes, why not emphasize this honestly?

Shill, no Shill, does it matter? BD is a paying sponsor of this site and a large number of members own their product. Why is it that when some one says "look at my new zipps" or "post your Look" nobody screams out shill. Let it go guys.
