blue comp vs. specialized suggestions please
hello everyone,
im new to the site and to the sport in general. in fact ive never owned a road bike. the owner of the gym, i train at, sponsors a cycling team so until i make my purchase im on one of his bikes. ive got my options narrowed down to either a 2008 specialized allez elite comp or a blueRC5al. atleast i think i do. see me and my wife are in the process of house shopping so i dont have alot of excess funds right now. however im wanting to make a good purchase that will meet my needs as an aspiring racer. will the allez elite or the rc5al be reasonable bikes to start on? or should i look at something like a baseline tarmac? im looking to spend between 1200- 2200 on the bike. so i was thinking maybe get the allez elite for 1200 and put the rest into better components. or just get the blue or the tarmac and ride it stock for awhile. any comments on which way to go would be greatly appreciated. or any opions of your own experience with specialized or blue would help aswell. thank yall for taking the time to read this, and for the help. |
Ride as many as possible and see what works best for you. The Allez Comp is more than suffice for racing, don't know anything about the Blue though. If you have the money to buy the Allez you would be better holding on to your "extra" money for the extras that come along with cycling, like helmet, pedals, shoes, shorts, jerseys, etc. 105 is more than suffice and you could look at maybe upgrading the wheels as needed in the future. Good luck!
