Stolen Bike Alert: Orbea Diva
STOLEN BIKE ALERT! Please keep your eyes peeled!
Light blue Orbea Diva.
Full Campy Chrous grouppo, 47cm.
If any of you see anything fishy on Craigslist or Ebay, PLEASE PM me.
Funny thing is, this bike had no pedals, no bar tape, and no cables. All of the shops in the area know to be looking for it.
Will look kinda like this:
Again, if you see anything on CL in your area, let me know.
Thanks guys.

Ouch, best of luck in recovering your bike. I'll keep a look out on Seattle's Craigslist (I'm usually on there anyway).

Take a look at the entry on the CL Bikes forum entitled "How to increase recovery chances." It has information about setting up automatic searches on eBay and Craigslist.
It also mentions registering your bike as stolen on the National Bike Registry, so that if someone (e.g. the police) run the serial number it will be flagged as stolen and be associated with your name/contact info. I could see this as a possibility if the person who stole it or receives it is arrested in some other matter.
Hope you're able to find the bike somehow.
Two other notes:
You can search all craigslist sites by using Google with "searchterm site:craigslist.org," such as "orbea diva site:craigslist.org" .
An unfortunate note: sometimes bikes that look stolen on craigslist do not include the make/model of the bike, but instead just have titles like "Carbon road bike, $250," and then a phone number and pic in the body. It might pay to keep a REAL CLOSE eye on the DC craigslist.

Actually, it was stolen from the shop I work in, its not my bike.
If anybody has any information, PM me and call The Bike Rack @ 202 387 BIKE (2453) and ask for Chuck, Wayne or Dave.
PM me with any URLs of suspicious postings.
Thanks for looking you everybody!

since this is a bike shop, do we get any reward if we help the shop getting back the bike?

I can't speak for a reward since I don't own or manage the shop and only work there on weekends, but I'm sure the cycling community would be grateful as a whole to help bring down a person that steals bikes.

1. no cable = no shifting, no brake
2. no pedal = not rideable
How the hell it got stolen? Inside job? Do you think hey really broke into the shop just to steal 1 bike and not even a complete bike, why not take the Scot Time trial bike instead? I guess there are things we don't know about this stolen bike.

Stolen while shop was open.
I wasn't working at the time, so I don't know every detail, but it basically comes down to everybody was busy and somebody grabbed it off the rack and walked off.

Since we're in the same area roughly, I'll keep an eye out for it. If I see anyone riding a bike that looks similar I'll be sure to tackle them or run them off the road (if I'm in my car).
Some coincidence though, I was at my LBS a few weeks ago and the guy at the store said someone stole a brand new Madone. Apparently the dude gave a stolen credit card to the guy at the store so he could test ride the bike and then he just rode off with it...

The new City Bikes had two college students from Johns Hopkins give them fake IDs and go on a forever test ride.
They got caught when they posted the bikes on Craigslist.
Bike theft in this area is getting pretty bad.
We [a group of friends at The Bike Rack] have recovered and helped recover multiple bikes in the area.

Slightly off the subject - - -
Ahhhh the Bike Rack... I've heard of that place, is it a fairly new shop? I'm just wondering because I remember my wife said she met a guy or maybe a bunch of guys at a bar (in cycling gear) that said they either work at or own a new bike shop in DC, I'm pretty sure she said the name was the Bike Rack.
The dudes were probably trying to hit on her and her friends, but hey, if it means I can get a discount...

Well if it was the owners, they definitely weren't hitting on her (or any girls).
Yes, opened about three months ago.
A group of us that work there do go on a lot of pub crawls.

(Don't worry, we aren't fixed gear exclusive...)
