Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Easton Orion II's

....LBS has a set for $500 (reg. $700). They look pretty nice, lot's of spokes..stiff...not bad weight wise...I'm riding Shimano 560's.

Any input on this deal and these wheels?

That's a GREAT deal. Look online and try to find them for that. I bought a pair with 600 miles on them for $420 delivered this year. $500 for new is excellent.

I love the wheels, by the way. I came from Open Pro/Dura Ace, and saved nearly a pound total. The roll great. Lightweight, look good, and if you don't like the bling, the decals can come off and you just have basic black.

I'd get 'em.

Matt

Id go for it. I have a set and they are great. Id buy em for that to have another set. They are light and strong. Im 195lbs and been riding em for close to a year with no problems. I liked em so much that I bought a pair of Ascents also.

Super deal, awesome wheels. Just got 'em myself for ~$570 shipped from eB@y. The stiffness difference between these wheels on the Aksiums that came w/ my bike is significant, as is the weight difference (500+g).

I think that is a good deal especially from your LBS. I just got the Orion II replacement (EA90SL) for $540 shipped off E-bay. I also shaved over a half pound of wheel weight.
