Motobecane
Hi, I saw a Motobecane made in france special edition bike on my local flea market, it had dia comp levers/shifters, shimano tourney brakes, but a peugeot fork.
The guy wanted 45$, is it a reasonable price, or its scrap? considering that the bike had no rust what so ever

French bikes haven't been widely distributed in North America since the early 1980s. Motobecane and Peugeot were fine brands at that time. When you're buying a bike that old, condition matters a lot. When you're buying any bike, how well it fits you matters a lot. If the is in great riding condition and fits you well, you can't go too far wrong for $45. You should think twice if the bike needs any new parts to get it running since those parts will likely cost much more than $45.

well, the guy sold it to me for 35$, and he said that most peugeot parts will fit it, I have a peugeot frame, which kind members have suggested that I put it back in trash, but Im sure that I can use its stem and front wheel for the motobecane I just bought. The bike is in very good condition, no rust on important parts at all. I might sell the bike on my local craigs after cleaning and getting it in perfect shape.

Well, to my surprise the bike rides well, and I would say, very well. I have no complaints what so ever so far. Ofcourse it would need some lubrication, since its pretty dry. Here are the details:
Frame: 20" (I think), Motobecane Special Sport (Made in France)
Front derailleur: Simplex
Rear derailleur: Simplex (sport style)
Front wheel: Ambrosio High Pressure (Made in Italy) with SUZUE hub + Michelin BIB Sport25 tire
Rear wheel: Ambrosio High Pressure (Made in Italy) with SUZUE hub + Michelin BIB Sport25 tire
Front brake: Shimano Tourney caliper brake with Shimano pads
Rear brake: M (And says mAfac on the back) caliper brake
Reflectors: CatEye
Pedals: LYOTARD
Fork: Peugeot (black) fork, not original one
Shifters: Shimano Altus
Brake levers: Dia-Compe
Crankset: LightRace
Seat: Leather (The brand name was erased due to age, but on bottom says Made in Italy)
