here's my baby. 2002 Allez A1 (24 gears, 56cm equiv). it's all stock except for the accessories and pedals. note the Time ATAC Carbon (MTB) double-sided pedals. that means i get twice the pedaling power!

'91??! the Specialized website gave me the impression they'd only recently started making road bikes (as opposed to MTB/BMX). i had no idea they had such an established pedigree.

Color isn't as flashy as some of the other models, but it grows on you.

Thanks. I switched to the red Michelin Hi-lites about two weeks ago. Livens up the bike.

Here's my 00', most noticable changes from this stock pic are upgraded wheels to CXP 33's from CXP 21's with red IRC Red Storm tires mounted that really pick up and compliment the red accents in the paint.
When did American Flyers come out, mid to late 1970's? Marcus and David rode Specialized Allez bikes in the movie. You have to love those corny gear shifting scenes don't you?

OMG F1_Fan you ride my bike!!! I am looking for replacement bottle holders in the original yellow, have you ever seen any of them? Night_Hawks have gotten faded down to a kind of lime green rather than the original hot yellow.
I'd love to see a close up of the colors on the down tube. I sent a letter to a specialized and asked how to tell the age of the bikes but the only said that the changes were in the down tube decals.
Fantastic.

The cages are Specialized. They haven't faded too much. I bought the bike through the Pro-D program (dealer cost -20% woo-hoo!!!) used it in club races for 1/4 season then it's been hung up in the garage for 10 years. Sad... eh? Work, school, g/f then wife... no time to ride. Now that I have better priorities in life I've started riding the bike again.
Though, I wonder what the lifetime of those bonded joints is...
You might be able to get the age from the serial number... mine starts GB1...
If I had to make a wild guess I'd say that stood for Giant Bicycles 1991

Night Hawk has had the same life story. The head wrench at Richardson Bike Mart my lbs won her in some sort of contest he rode her for a year or two then in 1989 or 1990 he sold her to me.
I rode her for two years then put her in the garage for 10 years also. My wife got her out last November and got me back on her, life has not been the same since I'm averaging 200 miles a week, lost 35 pounds with another 30 to go and getting ready to take 'Hawk back to the Hotter than Hell in a couple of weeks.
I had the guy I got her from go over her to check out the bonding on the frame and that was also why I wrote Specialized and they both said that there was nothing to worry about he also said that there was no way to tell from the serial Numbers what year she was made. Although you might be right as mine start with GA9 Giant Shipment A 1989?
My son accidentally packed my digital camera in his stuff when he went to college this year. Guess I need to buy a new one, as the odds of ever seeing that one are slim.
