What do you guys wear underneath bib shorts?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What do you guys wear underneath bib shorts?

I just bought my first pair of bib shorts and am totally clueless about to wear for top? Can you wear SS jersey underneath? Or does it have to be some sort of thin baselayer?

Base layer underneath, jersey on top... or, just jersey on top with no base layer.

I think I'm gonna wear my jersey under my bibs tonight, and then the HR strap over it all. Should make for an enteresting group ride

Cold weather: base layer underneath bib straps, jersey over bib straps
Warm weather: no base layer, jersey over bib straps only

Really...have you ever seen anyone riding with their bib straps on top of their jersey?

As my neighbor's 6 year old at our country place said to me one day, when I'd pulled my jersey off but was still wearing my bibs, it would make you look like a circus strong man.

I pretty much always wear a wicking base layer under the bibs myself, even in hot weather.

No, but it sure would make taking a dump easier.

Actually, yes, I have... the guy had a "lost" kind of look on his face to begin with, so it was most likely someone who hadn't had a chance to consult the BF crowd on proper bib strap placement yet

I've seen people on really hot days with just bibs and no jersey and they do look like the circus strong men.. lol

Call me an arse hole, but I can't imagine a dumber question on this board than the old, "Do I wear my jersey under or over my bibs?" And there are a lot of dumb questions on this board.

Honestly, people. If you don't know, how the hell did you decide to get bibs in the first place?

skin under, jersey over

i used to ride sometimes just in my circus man bibs with no jersey, but i have spent too much time picking bloody gravel out of my skin to be that stupid any more. a jersey gives at least a little protection from sun and road rash - better than bare skin.

It is rare but I have encountered riders wearing either a bib with no top or a bib over their jersey. *shrugs*
The strange this is that they have all been older men. Why not 20 something ladies? dang it

Yup. I saw one with nothing underneath, just the bibs. Too bad it was a guy.

Well I didn't know, so I asked before venturing out. I couldn't care less about what people might think or say whichever way I wear it, but I think I will wear the jersey on top.

For people who thought it was a dumb question, it was at least a genuine one.

OK, and you have your answer.

It would be a pain to try and reach something out of your jersey pocket if the bib was covering it anyway.
