Did a short 35 mile ride and got soaked, but not too cold. I was glad to read that jpconrad was able to finish the first day at the Everest Challenge. Several other BFers are there, too. It's a 2 day ride in the Eastern Sierras with 30,000 feet of climbing, but because of the snow, they changed the route some. He said there was blowing snow on one of the climbs. There is a thread in the SoCal forum.

hello
No ride due to rain. First time it has rained in L.A. in 6 months.....(at least in my area) So I spent part of the day laying ceramic tiles.

I rode 75 miles with my next door neighbor. It was a beautiful day and the ride was great except for the 20 miles of headwind we faced right in the middle of the ride.

They say it never rains in Southern California... But it did today which is good. However, didn't want to be out in the first significant rain with all the oil slicks and bad drivers. Ran today will ride tomorrow.

I rode in my friend's golf cart between holes 6 & 7, 9 & 10, and 16 & 17. Walked the course the rest of the day.
Planning a ride with the wife tomorrow, though.

Did the Amish 100 in Southern Maryland. Great day, decent event. Not too many riders, and the rest stops were kind of weak. Most of the route was flat with just a few minor rolling hills.
Some of the roads were pretty busy, but they all had real wide, clean shoulders to accommodate the Amish buggies that travel the roads. I saw two out on the roads yesterday.
The best part of the day was passing a five-mile backup of pickups, SUV's, and motorhomes waiting to get into the local racetrack...

25 miles to work in the morning, 25 miles home around lunchtime, then I took my SS and Cheri for a 20-some mile night-time group ride on the O&E towpath.

55 - mostly wet - miles. Stayed low. Only 10 people came out for the club ride. Two turned around early. If your name was David, it was your day to have a flat. Dave1 = two flats; Dave2 = one flat: Not Dave = zero flats.
Dave2 drove with his GF to the ride. After the ride, he went back to his car. His GF comes into the coffee shop, where we are warming up, and asks if I am Steve. I say yes and she asks me if I've seen him. Yes, I say, he turned into the parking lot. She tells me the car's not there and she has his cell phone. I guess someone's in trouble!

200 Km Brevet in in the Loveland/Ft. Collins foothills. My first brevet, my friend and I did it for our birthdays, which are today and tomorrow, respectively. 360 degree headwind, 80 degrees, 6000 feet of climbing, the aspens are starting to get yellow. I towed her most of the last 40 miles, and then when we were really close, she dropped the hammer to meet her goal time, and I coasted behind her. Fun!

It sucked. Went out to do a metric, but between the heat, humidity and wind, I got over heated, sun burned and was getting a massive headache. Around 40 miles I had to stop and limped home to cool off and get some fluid in me. I lost 6 lbs on that ride. I am so ready for some cooler weather and low humidity.
