How was your Saturday ride??(9/22)

well I got to take out the new bike, me and my buddy had a great ride...started out around 7:30am...sun had just come up and it was nice and cool....mostly flat, some rolling hills....winds 10mph or so....became sunny and clear, warmed up a bit...overall a really nice ride...saw a lot of other bikers out, everyone enjoying themselves...ended up with 40 miles, and a 18.1 avg....this is the first time we ever averaged over 18mph, so personal records for both of us!....how was your ride???

No ride today- A day of maintenance to the bikes- Stripped and checked the forks on the MTB and fitted a new headset- Changed the tyres on the Tandem for a 70 miles sponsored ride on a gravel cycle trail tomorrow and then had to regrease the headset(Just fitted the one I keep instock to the MTB so could not fit a new one) Checked over the OCR3 and had a bit of trueing to do on the wheels- And finally on the Boreas- Just sat and looked at it as it is such a beautiful bike.

No bike ride- but I should a winter free of major problems on all the bikes.

80.77 miles. 4:30:22
Lots of climbing & rollers + good flat stretches.
Beautiful weather.
No redneck encounter.
Rode up on a fresh accident. Took detour.
Stopped in at other LBS to say hi to the owner.
Decent pace.
Wonderful ride.

62 miles today - 20 miles fast and flat, 42 miles of hills. Beautiful ride but legs started screaming as soon as I got in the saddle. It is amazing how being off the bike for a week sitting on your butt in front of a computer can really impact your riding ability.

Had no redneck drivers today. In fact, I had cars stopping to let me go first over one lane bridges. What is the world coming to?

Edonis13 09-22-07 02:51 PM

61 miles. lots of flats with rolling hills. last 15 miles were in pouring rain. 17.5 average.

WheresWaldo 09-22-07 03:05 PM

Bad, bad, bad and worse.
Rode about 50 miles, first 25 was ok, then stomach pains, then severe dehydration, and it wasn't because I didn't drink enough water. Oh, I may have said too much. The ride back took me over 2 hours! I still feel like crap.

I went for a short, 25 mile ride, and the more I rode, the more depressed I became. I don't know what's wrong, I just feel really crappy. It's starting to piss me off. Great. So I get to be  and  at the same time. THIS should work out great.

caloso 09-22-07 04:03 PM

50 mile group ride. Did more work than I planned but I had the legs. So that was good.

38 miles with the Austin Cycling Association. Went by myself, but me and 3 other kind folks formed a pack and stuck together. 2 hrs 10 minutes. Beautiful weather. A very fun ride.

Great! Perfect day for the official end of summer: a little under 50mi, a little climbing, good weather, and views of Mt. Hood, Mt. Rainier and Mt. Adams (from a distance of 115-150 miles).

pino pomo 09-22-07 04:48 PM

48 miles, just under 3 hours. Felt like garbage the whole way. Bad lower back pain and really bad lower neck pain. Legs felt like jelly the whole time. Horrible roads. Holler'd at by some white trash. Didn't see anyone else out riding which, for some reason, made me depressed. Still better than anything else I had planned.

78 miles. Started @ 6AM in Tuxedo, NY with the lights on the bike, rode through the dawn, down to the fast, short group ride I do on Sat. mornings with the local NJ racing dudes, then back up the big climbs to my car. Lots of vertical, nice weather, had some legs for the last big climb. No pain today. About 5 hours in the saddle, the perfect ride. I do that often on Saturdays. It starts with 10 miles through Harriman Park in NY, and I always have it to myself. The beauty of that solitary beauty of that dawn ride through Harriman Park exemplifies why I ride a road bike.

An almost perfect riding day (except for the 30k north/west headwind). But nice, hot (30C), dry, deep blue sky with some puffy clouds, beautiful country scenery with lots of changing leaves and some blowing around, rode with 2 friends and our whole trip was 87km. It's supposed to be the same weather tomorrow so I'll be riding again....:D

It was a great day to lead a ride, I had two other riders, it started out foggy and warm (low 70's), we left at 8:30 AM, we were to ride 78 miles. At the 35 mile mark it started to rain so I decided to cut it short. It started to pour (note to self: wash out helmet more often rain tasted like salt water) after 30 minutes it slowed down so we rode the most direct way back to the start (very dark sky). 5 miles from the finish it poured harder (at least it washed the salt out of my eyes). End result 68 miles, 17 mph avg. I had to spin the whole time my avg spin was at 92 rpm (up 7 rpm). I have a sprained knee so no stomping. Next week it's a century after which I hope to begin to work on the muscle imbalance that caused the muscle sprains.

schnabler1 09-22-07 05:31 PM

130 miles with some buddies and lots of ankle-biting dogs.

Hefty 09-22-07 06:04 PM

Rode 20 miles and was called be a problem at work. No one could get in touch with maintenance person. I was close enough to ride to his house and send him in to work. Rode another 20 home.
It was a good day!

Wuss.

Terex 09-22-07 06:10 PM

Started w/ about 8 guys trying to set club record for a 52 mi course in Hunterdon County, NJ. Started foggy, began to drizzle, turned to rain, ended in heavy rain. We shut it down and only went 30. Lot's of climbing, and we were averaging 18+, so we would have had a shot. Guess we have to wait until next year. Tomorrow's ride is in Warren County (NW NJ) w/ lots of climbing, but the weather is supposed to be good.

EffSizzle 09-22-07 06:12 PM

25 miles. A good mix of flat and 12% hills. Sunny, 60f. Used my new PI leg warmers today...heaven sent!

For some odd reason I just didn't have "it" today on my ride. I rode 300 miles in 6 days about two weeks ago, took a week off and got back on it yesterday for about 45 good miles. But today I felt lazy and slow. Could be that I only had a yogurt for breakfast at 7am and a fig newton bar for lunch around 1pm. That's GOTTA be it!

Hmmm...

Californian 09-22-07 06:37 PM

Miserable, as significant knee pain at 30 minutes in confirms I'm currently losing my battle .vs IT band. My foray into semi-pricey speedplay zero pedals has done nothing but lighten my wallet.

Anyone in the market for a set of extremely lightly used SZ chromo's? :) Come to think of it...I wonder if performance would take them back.
