Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

A short day for me. Didn't have much time after I woke up (worked third shift last night). Got in 23.8 miles at 19.4 avg through a boat load of rolling hills. I hate rollers! Rather just take a few steep climbs during the ride, but it was still a nice ride. Took some really scenic routes and with the leaves falling it made it all the better. Wish I could have road more, but the sun was starting to hide behind the trees at 6:20PM already. UGH! Give me more light!!!

Great weather. Was about 5 miles out when I realized I'd forgotten to switch my pump to the bike I rode today and decided to chance it. Turned around at mile 15(where I usually turn around on this route) and checked my tires to see if I'd picked up anything that might cause me problems. Yep, thorn from a goathead in my front tire. Decided to leave it alone and made it home just fine. No dogs. No flats. Good ride.

I managed to get 70 miles in from Bklyn to Piermont and back. Beautiful day. I even squeezed in 20 on Saturday on my 'off' day. My wife gets Saturday, I get Sunday, but my kids are old enough to stay home by themselves for an hour, finally.
