Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mavic Mektronic groupset for training?

I was browsing the internet for info on groupsets since I'm building a bike up and found some info on the Mavic Mektronic system. It's an electronic shifting group that came out a while back and I just wanted to get feedback on it. There isn't much info out there and it looks like most either love or hate it. I just want to try it out in the off season and then switch to Ultegra or Rival in 08 for racing.

Lots of bugs, didn't work properly for any great length of time, bike companies wouldn't spec it (one C'dale model maybe?), Mavic stopped selling it.

A friend of mine has it.

fwiw: He's not a hardcore rider, but he's used it in all conditions, and is satisfied with it.
