photos from today's ride

i was inspired by another forum member's post from his ride the other day. i took a digital point-and-shoot along for a ride today. most of these photos were shot while riding (didn't really want to stop), so i apologize that the compositions and clarity are not the best -- had to keep 1 hand on the wheel! :)

the views were pretty decent and the colors weren't bad, either. i can't complain.

hope you enjoy 'em!

the Grand Teton is in this one as seen from the south. It's the tallest mountain in the range, but it doesn't look that way from this vantage point; Buck Mtn to the left appears taller.

we call the mountain in the background of the next photo "sleeping indian". it's as if he is laying on his back. his chest is on the left and his head-dress is on the right. on clear days, the facial features are very defined.

Cool pix of a very beautiful place. Thanks for sharing.

Great shots...

Your mountains are a bit bigger than ours...

As is your elevation...

AS a flatlander living in coastal Florida you don't know what pictures like that do to me. I am nearly sick with envy.. what beautiful country.

With a name like tetonrider, I figured the pics would be good. I love that area, and have ridden a few times. For scenery, I'll take that (or the Sawtooths), over just about anything!
Thanks for sharing the photos.

Cool photos. I wish I could have stayed out that way a couple days more after doing lotoja.

As a flatlander living in Singapore I too am envious. The tallest "peak" here is "Mount Faber" which is 106 meters :o. More of a "lump" than a "mount"

Your part of the world looks stunning, thank you for sharing.

lol, "breast rider";)

I'm loving the Rockies right now. It's my first Autumn in them.

skiracing 09-30-07 08:39 PM

I'm jealous!

Velo Vol 09-30-07 09:00 PM

Nice.

I rode that bike path last summer from Teton Village to the top of Teton Pass and back. I also rode from Teton Village to Moose Wilson Rd around Jenny Lake and back. Great riding. Nice photos.

I' m packin' my bags right now, I love that area

Thanks for the beautiful pics. I service several lumber yards in the Wilson/Jackson area but have never brought my bike along for the trip.

I'm going to work in Idaho Falls this week then will ride the Yellowstone Fall Tour this Saturday morning. 60 miles and mostly flat, should be a beautiful, relaxed ride if the weather plays nice.

Nice....here's mine...

BTW - not sure how that farmer lives with himself having red and green and yellow in the same barn....*shiver*.

quanteleditor 09-30-07 10:13 PM

I love photos! I always have.

tetonrider 09-30-07 11:37 PM

Glad you enjoyed the photos. Thanks for the kind comments. Some of them turned out pretty OK for a point-and-shoot taken while riding. It wasn't the photographer's skills, that's for sure -- it was hard NOT to take a good photo on that day. I definitely don't take this scenery -- or our mountains and climbs -- for granted.

I hope that some more of you might post photos of your rides. There is beauty to be found everywhere.

Awesome photos!

But where are the ones of the view from the top of some of those mountains?

Srsly

:D

samsation7 10-01-07 12:54 AM

did a sweet climb locally and took a rest in a local park on the climb.

how do you like the ride? specialized has some very innovative designs, sometimes at the expense of aesthetics. However, your bike looks great and I'd like to know how it rides.

Great Photos! I envy you for living in such a peaceful area. Is this in the Montana/Wyoming region?

dtrain 10-01-07 01:13 PM

Very nice pictures. You are making me homesick...I grew up on the Idaho side of the Tetons (just a little ways beyond Driggs).

thanks for the compliments. i'm glad people enjoy the photos.

there's plenty of room -- you should pack up & move on out here! :)

i'm in NW wyoming (jackson hole). not far from montana, but not all that close, either (>3h by car). by bike, i'm 1h from idaho. :)
