Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Kentucky Riders UNITE!

I'm calling everyone who's in the Louisville area in KY. I'm going to be in this God's country this weekend, from Friday until Sunday.
I'm staying just outside of Taylorsville which is a one gas-station town, losts of rolling hills and long winding roads.
If anyone out there knows the area or wants to go on a medium fast ride, just PM me.

The Hilly Hundred just across the Ohio River in Indiana is this weekend - most of the locals that do a lot of touring will be there.

If you do ride in the area, be sure to pedal on over to Jefferson County and do Seatonville Hill. It's one of the best climbs in the area. It's a real hill.

And....come back Saturday Oct 27 to Red River Gorge (Natural Bridge State Park) for a great ride up and down the hills in the Gorge. Two killer hills, well..... one good hill and one killer hill. The Louisville Club is doing it as a group event.

All of the racers here are in the midst of cross. Won't be many faster paced road rides. The Hilly Hundred is popular though, and we're doing a century Sunday.

Oh yeah you can checkout kybikerides.org and look at any that leave from Floyds Fork park for cue sheets and elevation charts if you end up going solo.

yeah cx is in full swing right now, but there are AMAZING backrounds all throughout kentucky. if you are up for a drive, check out https://www.bgcycling.org/event_calendar.php . some great riders with them, and they know great routes. lexington based though, so might take you a bit of a drive. the hundred is supposed to be great though, never done it myself though.

Meh, I'm only going to be down there this weekend, and I won't have a car.
I'm actually a new uncle so I want to see my niece, but I also want to get in another ride or two while I'm there.

Hey guys,

I'm a student at Centre College in Danville so if you've ever in the area and want to check out the beautiful landscape at +15 mph let me know. We have a cycling club of about 5 so we can get a group together. Check out the new Criterium (new to me...believe or not this bike is only 4 years younger than me!)...it won't look like this long however due to the serious 21st century makeover its about to get.

See you on the road!
