white lines... running through my mind...
so, the white/yellow lines by the side of the road - does riding on them mean more friction or less?

Less usually, I think ... but they are slippery when wet.

I can't help it, I'm a white line rider. I do it even when there are no cars around. I can almost always be found within a foot or less of the white line. I've definitely noticed that the white line is a smoother ride.

... something of a phenomenon ... telling your body to come along ...
this might apply also:
... now I'm broke and it's no joke ... it's hard as h*ll to fight it ...
nice.

i ride them when im alone on the road and its dry, seeing how long i can hold the line for paceline training, but when the cars are around, i wiggle off it, in case i need traction to react.

You mean those lines over at the very edge of the road? I don't know I don't ride over there at the edge of the road. I ride ON the road.

The paint will give you less traction especially in the wet where it can become very slippery. Also when your riding that close to edge drivers try to squeeze by when there is oncoming traffic. If want to be safe take up a third of the lane or at least ride a foot and a half off the line.

I find the painted lines make it too hard to do stoppies, endos, and other riding-on-the-front-wheel style stunts during heavy traffic.
