Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Funny reviews by 'Bike Snob NYC'

https://bikesnobnyc.blogspot.com/2007...-shootout.html

"this bike climbs like a monkey in a set of crampons, descends like a monkey in a set of crampons being dropped from a helicopter, handles corners like a prostitute, and accelerates like a particle in a particle accelerator that itself is just a tiny particle in a giant particle accelerator. "

"To put it simply, this bike climbs like a squirrel, descends like a greased squirrel on a luge, corners like a decagon, and accelerates like a methamphetamine-addicted rabbit. (Or like a Porsche being driven by a methamphetamine-addicted rabbit.) Overall, the effect of getting on this bike is like getting on one of those moving walkways in the airport--you feel like you’re going twice as fast, and you feel twice as smart as the idiots who didn’t bother getting on the walkway and just kept walking on the regular floor."

Etc, etc,

I get tired of his ranting about fixed gear bikes, but his other stuff is hilarious.

[Your wife] is not bragging to her friends that she is married to the King of the Park, she does not like that you go to bed at nine and wake up at five, and she does not still reminisce about that time you won a $20 prime and bought her an omelette.

Sounds like Bike Snob is a content driven blog with advertisement. That's about it.

I see you as a Bob Saget Fan, or the reason why so many sitcoms mysteriously stay on TV for so long.

Bob Saget is not funny.

If they made that bumper sticker, I would get one.

[QUOTE=Disco Stu;5544225]https://bikesnobnyc.blogspot.com/2007...-shootout.html

Disco Stu: I did an experiment on this bike snob nyc blog. I deployed Ad Adware spyware and removed the cookies and harmless stuff. Then I went onto this Bike Snob NYC site directly from the web, not from here. Then I deployed Ad Aware again. Lo and behold, I got 3 cookies and several "harmless spy stuff". Yeah, this is a content driven advertising thing.

I'm willing to bet that the ones that think BSNYC sucks are those that are taking what he says personally instead of as the joke it is.

So The Snob is funny, and he is trying to make a buck. He is obviously the devil.

You think I watch TV, funny. Do sports on TV count as bad comedy? That's about all I watch, and usually I turn it off more likely to cry than laugh.

And yeah, my blog needs to be updated but sadly RL gets in the way and my blogging colleague is also pretty busy these days. Bah. I still have Contador pics to post from Madrid in July. Hmm.

Referring to real life as "RL" indicates you may need a real life.
I always wonder who reads blogs, let alone who thinks people care what they have to say on them.

What is a BLOG?

Is that one of those sites where self-important people write their nonsensical rants in the hopes that anyone out there cares what they have to say?

Where can I get my own BLOG???

yeah, all the guys who spent $10k on a bike because they believed all the reviews, saying: it climbs like an African Bushbaby, descends like an anvil that fell out of Voyager in 1982 and has just made it through re-entry, is as aero as a rain drop, corners like a chased hare with blu-tack on it's feet, weighs 6 pounds, and provides a laterally stiff, yet vertically compliant bike

Ok, the guy ain't Demetri Martin and Steven Wright rolled into one, but he ain't unfunny, and it's a good shot at all the TOTAL BS that goes around about bikes, and a good shot at all the Captain Seriouses out there

Anyone who does not think that link was funny is exactly who he is talking about.

Bikes are fun. Remember that. He tries to make sure people don't take them to serriously.
