Pronounciation of "Cannondale"

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Pronounciation of "Cannondale"

I've always heard it pronounced as spelled; "cannon-dale". But a friend insists it should rightly be pronounced "ca-non-da-lay" as it sounds much more Grey-Pouponish and that that pronunciation should always be used when referring to the System Six or Super Six products. When I made the mistake of referring to his bike with the traditional pronunciation he took such offense that he removed his cycling gloves, slapped me across the face and challenged me to a duel. We have yet to set a date for the event.

Replace his gel packs with those fast-food sized packs of Grey Poupon. Adopt an English accent when speaking to him. he'll get over it soon enough.

Many, many years ago, before Cannondale made bicycles and only made bags, panniers, gloves and clothing, their stuff carried a logo of an antique train station with a little Cannondale sign. I'm pretty sure it's plain old Cannon-Dale. Your friend is goofy.

That's why I never owned a Cannondale; I remember how bad their clothing sucked back then.

Hence, his friend is correct. Obviously, "Cannondale" rhymes with "Made in the USA"

We had three different Target stores in three different areas back in my hometown.

The one out by the oh-so-white suburbs was "Tar-szhay"; the one in the middle was "Target"; the one closer to downtown (ours) was "Targhetto".

Ca-NON-dah-lay? My god, that's stupid.. LOL

On a tangent, Grey Poupin is another Made in America product. It's the American reproduction of French Dijon Mustard (actually preferred over some of the French stuff in taste test).

Do you say "wa" for water and "parm" for parmesan because they're too long to say? Jesus, I don't understand the laziness of people these days. It takes a fraction of a second to say....and what's with all these "how do you pronounce <company x>?" threads?
