Sweaty Ride to Work/School

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sweaty Ride to Work/School

I saw a thread that made me think of this, but I didn't want to hijack it.

Here's the story: I sweat more than the average person. In fact, I probably sweat more than 95% of the population. Does anyone have any tips for how to deal with this if you bike to work or school. Do you take a towel? Shower? Just let yourself stink all day?

Thanks for any replies.

uhhh.... commuting forums? I think they suggest a shower before you go to work to remove odour causing bacteria and baby wipes for when you get there.

Sorry. I'll search commuter forums, or maybe repost over there. Thanks.

Human stink is caused more by poor hygiene than physical activity. After all, the worst smelling people I encounter are generally at places like Fry's and Circuit City who are moribidly obese and shopping for video games, computers and TV's.

My grooming routine is exactly the same when I drive as when I bike. In fact, I even shower before recreational rides as well.

Bikes: Some bikes. Hell, they're all the same, ain't they?

If you shower right before leaving home -- and use something like a good antibacterial soap -- and wear fresh, clean clothes, you'll stink a lot less even if you sweat.

Since this is the road forum, it is safe to post this tidbit.

Armpits stink less if you shave the hair.

Dont ride as fast. You shouldn't sweat too much if you ride at a normal rate. At least that's how it works for me.
